Mandera Governor Ali Roba has praised county governments in North Eastern for the strides they have made due to devolution.
Mr Roba said due to devolution, Mandera has improved in terms of development which is benefitting many residents in the county.
Speaking in Mandera town, the governor said devolution has helped Mandera County achieve a lot in the past five years and it is in the process of getting better.
He said in the last five years there is an improvement in different sectors including Health, Agriculture, water and Infrastructure which he said improved livelihoods in the county.
“We are having our first tarmac road in fifty years and many other new things have come our way. Despite different challenges in our county, we have achieved our goal in the past five years and we have our eyes set on the next five years. In just five years of Devolution the fruit of devolution is seen across the Kenyan counties especially in North Eastern counties,” said the governor.
Governor Roba further said that governors have since formed economic blocs to coordinate large-scale inter-county programs.
Mr Roba had in the past blamed insecurity for the slow realization of development in the far-flung parts of the county.
