Mandera Governor hopeful Noor Hassan Noor has pleaded the national government to enhance security across the country ahead of next week general election.
Addressing residents in Mandera Town on Wednesday, Noor said that deployment of adequate officers across the country will ensure voters' safety before, during and after the general election.
The Governor Economic Freedom Party (EFP) governor hopeful said that Kenyans will come out in large numbers to vote if their safety is guaranteed.
“The national government should increase security surveillance especially in areas classified as violence hotspots to ensure safety of every citizen as we head to the polls,” he said as quoted by Standard.
Noor also asked the government and private sector to give its employees adequate time to go and vote on August 8.
He said that Monday and Tuesday next week should be declared public holiday to enable Kenyans travel and vote in their various polling centers across the country.
Meanwhile, Noor has urged residents to back his bid promising to champion key development projects within 10 days.
The EFP governor hopeful said that he will represent the interest of residents without discrimination if he is elected governor.
He also promised to lobby for more allocation to the county government if elected.
Noor criticized incumbent governor Ali Roba claiming that he has failed to deliver on the promises he made in 2013.
The former Provincial Commissioner (PC) is eyeing to unseat Roba who is seeking re-election on Jubilee Party ticket.
