An aspirant for the Nyamira County top seat has said he will abolish fundraisers in churches if he's elected governor in the 2017 general election.
Evans Nyatigo said churches have been characterised by many fundraisers which he termed as a burden to their faithful.
He said the move has made many faithful to shun going to church.
"The now and again fundraising has made most people to avoid churches because they can't afford to raise money weekly and it's a burden to them. The economy is not stable," said Nyatigo.
He said if elected, he will initiate a kitty through the county assembly where all registered churches will be given a certain amount in that financial year for development purposes.
"Once I assume office next year, I will liaise with the county assembly so that our churches are included in the budget. It will be upon the churches to come up with a four-year work plan", added Nyatigo.
The aspirant further said his stay in the US has given him much light on matters devolution.
