Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja has introduced a new dress code for county staff.
County chief of staff Philemon Mwaisaka said county officials who will not adhere to the new dress code will face disciplinary action.Mwaisaka said male county workers will be expected to wear suits and ties while their female counterparts would not be allowed to dress ‘indecently’, the Standard has reported. He said the county government has no room for workers who dress poorly as they attend to their daily duties, adding that the new dress code will give the Granton Samboja-led administration a good image."We want to move away from the past where staff used to dress poorly. We have introduced the new dress code to ensure decorum in the public service,” he said, as quoted by the daily. He said no one will be exempted from sticking to the right dress code since there cheap attires on the market for the workers."There will be no excuse for not being smart while on duty. There are cheap suits and ties for workers who might not have them,” he said.Mwaisaka also said the new administration will not put up with employees who are fond of arriving at work late. The new rules have been opposed by a section of the county workers.
