Garissa Governor Nathif Jama has urged residents to remain calm as they wait to vote in the August 8 polls.
Addressing supporters at Masalani, Garissa on Tuesday, Jama told residents to reject politicians who might want to lure them to violence.
He said that peace is crucial for the country to hold credible general elections.
Governor Jama also asked residents and Kenyans at large not to fear for their safety and instead come out in large numbers to vote.
“I am calling on residents and Kenyans at large to remain peaceful and camp as they prepare the Tuesday day general election,” he said as quoted by the Standard.
Meanwhile, Jama who is seeking re-election on Wiper ticket has urged residents and Kenyans to vote wisely in next week's general election.
He said that Kenyans have the power to elect leaders who will push development agenda forward. Jama pleaded with voters not to be blinded or enticed by politician’s handouts and instead make independent choices.
