Even as the drought situation in Garissa County continues to worsen each day, Garissa County Governor Nathif Jama has reached to the area senator Yussuf Haji to deliberate on the way forward with the intention of helping the residents out of the crisis.
Jama paid a courtesy call to Senator Haji at his residence in Masalani after ending his Ijara sub county tour.
In a social media update, the county boss announced that they had largely deliberated on how to partner with the national government and humanitarian organizations and help respond to the looming drought in the hunger-stricken county.
"Senator Haji and I deliberated on how to partner with the national government to respond to the looming drought in the sub county. The situation is almost getting out of hand," said the governor.
As the drought situation worsens, a number of households at Modogashe sub-county have resorted to eating leaves and edible roots as the only option of coping with the acute water and food crisis in the region.
The residents are now calling upon well-wishers to help them with foodstuffs lest they perish from the biting drought that was last witnessed over 200 years ago.
