A Kisii County elected ward representative has lauded Governor James Ongwae for his efforts to have Daraja Mbili slaughterhouse opened months after the facility was closed for renovations.
Kitutu Central ward representative Duke Nyarango said Ongwae is a performer who should not be taken for granted.
According to him, it is through governor Ongwae the operations at the slaughterhouse resumed today Friday.
“Governor Ongwae deserves credit because he is performing his duties as required. He promised to ensure the Daraja Mbili slaughterhouse is repaired and renovated and he has done so. Meat traders are now free to access the facility to buy meat and sell to their customers since the facility has now met the required health standards,” said the MCA.
He challenged Ongwae’s political rivals to copy the same and deliver when their time will come.
“Leaders opposing governor Ongwae’s leadership should copy Ongwae’s leadership styles to embrace the same when their time comes. For now, they should consider supporting Ongwae to deliver quality services to the people of Kisii County and stop criticizing every project Ongwae initiates or launches,” he said.
The ward representative assured that meat consumers will enjoy quality meat from the facility without fearing of any disease outbreak.
The slaughterhouse was closed after residents complained that its environment was not hygienic.
