The issue of whether Konza Techno City lies in Makueni or Machakos County has hit the headlines once again.
Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana now demands rectifications on the boundaries.
“There is a part in Konza Techno City which is claimed to be in Machakos County and we want this to be cleared as it brings much trouble and we know the truth,” Kibwana said.
On the same note, he added that most schools in Kilome constituency especially in Kiima Kiu/Kalanzoni wards report in Machakos County but they are being funded by the Makueni County Government as well as Kilome CDF's kitty.
Kibwana said voters within the area vote for leaders of Makueni County, while some chiefs from the constituency report in Machakos.
“We want all schools that lie in Makueni County to report in Makueni but not in Machakos County," Kibwana added.
He claimed that according to the 2010 constituencies review, Kalama ward which lies in Machakos County is in Makueni County though the second president, retired Daniel Moi had moved it to Machakos via a phone call.
Kibwana cautioned that they do not want to bring chaos due to county boundaries as they will solve such amicably when IEBC sittings kick off.
“We shall talk with CS Amina Mohammed with her counterpart Fred Matangi to solve these issues”, Kibwana concluded.
His deputy Adeline Mwau said securing Kalonzoni Teachers Training College which lies in a 500-acre land and had stalled, they can build a university as the county assembly had passed the motion earlier this month.
Kibwana’s sentiments were lauded by the area MP Thaddeus Nzambia who said most teachers report in Machakos but schools lie in Makueni.
“We want to develop the stalled facility as land grabbers have invented the piece of land,” Nzambia said.
A visit to the college which was constructed decades ago and we witnessed what the leaders had said as grabbers had set structures on the piece of land.
The leaders spoke at Kalanzoni market as the launched constriction of 60 roads within Makueni County which will cost Sh300 million.
