The forum brought together 18 Counties currently involved in the extractives sector and will critically look into the mining policy of 2016 to ensure it cushions the interests of the respective counties and the locals.

During the forum, Kingi said the 18 counties will also discuss the roles of county governments in the mining sector and domesticate the extractives legislations to minimize conflicts between the national government, the county governments and Mwananchi.

"This will include the formation of generic laws that will emanate from the Council of Governors to anchor the extractives sector and ensure our counties generate maximum returns from their natural resources and boost development," said the governor who expressed need for national government to work with County government whenever they want to extract.

Attending the forum is the Chairman of the Council of Governors Governor Josphat Nanok of Turkana County, Governor Francis Kimemia of Nyandarua County, Governor Okoth Obado of Migori County, Governor Onesmus Muthomi Njuki of Tharaka Nithi County among other dignitaries.
