Kilifi County Governor Amason Kingi has hailed the devolution system of governance, saying it has not only brought funds closer to 'Mwananchi' but also ensured that every citizen takes part in deciding how these funds are utilized at the grassroots level through public participation.
He said the devolution journey kicked off when Kilifians joined hands regardless of their political, economic or social affiliations under the spirit of “Pamoja Tujenge” and decided to work closely to reinforce a cohesive approach towards sustainable development, increased production and effective management of the County’s resources for the sole purpose of developing every corner of Kilifi.
Speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing 5th Devolution Conference 2018 being held in Kakamega County, Kingi said devolution is transforming lives.
"... improved healthcare services, we are upgrading our roads; quality education and access to water is a reality and we are furthering investments and marching towards food security with agricultural milestones that we're achieving," he said.
Dr. Anisa Omar, the Kilifi Health CeC, former Coast regional coordinator who is now the Devolution Principal Secretary Nelson Marwa, among other Kilifi County government leaders attended the conference on Tuesday.
