Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has denied claims that he is planning to ditch the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

The Governor said reports in a section of media indicating that he plans to ditch ODM and form his own party are misleading.Speaking to journalists at his Kilifi office on Friday, Kingi said he is in ODM to stay.He accused his critics of propagating rumors that he plans to abandon the Raila Odinga-led party. “I want to make it clear that I have no plans of ditching the Orange Party as it is being speculated in some media outlets,” he said.The county boss said his commitment to the Orange Party cannot be questioned, adding that ODM made him who he is today.On Sunday, Kingi was quoted saying that they are in talks to form a political party that will champion the development agenda of the Coast region.Kingi argued that the region has been sidelined, adding that their own political vehicle will be the answer to their woes.The Kilifi governor skipped the former Prime Minister's inauguration as the people’s president at Uhuru Park last week.Kingi alongside his Mombasa counterpart Hassan Joho is pushing for the secession of the Coast region, on grounds that the region has been marginalised by the previous and current regimes.
