Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government to prepare for tough times ahead if it fails to honor NASA's push for electoral reforms and justice.
The vocal ODM governor says that Uhuru’s government will not have peace until when it agrees to electoral reforms agenda.
Speaking to journalists in Malindi Town on Monday, Kingi said that NASA will push Uhuru’s administration to the wall and ensure that there are electoral justice and an end to police brutality and impunity.
He said that NASA will use different strategies in its quest for reforms adding that the government should cooperate or be ready for consequences.
“We want to end the culture of electoral fraud and police impunity and we can only do this through reforms,” he said.
Kingi while defending Raila’s planned swearing-in said that the opposition will not be silenced or intimidated.
He said that Raila’s swearing is overdue and unstoppable. Governor Kingi said that Raila’s push for reforms cannot be ignored adding that he has the power of the people behind him.
He laughed off threats by the government over planned swearing-in saying that they cannot do anything to the people’s president.
Kingi asked NASA supporters not to lose hope saying that their support and fight for reforms is for the coming generation.
He said that the reforms agenda will set a new dawn for the country on how it conducts future presidential elections.
NASA has maintained that plans to swear in Raila as the people’s president are on course. The former Prime Minister says that he is not afraid of dying and that he would rather be killed fighting for electoral justice.
The opposition is expected to unveil details of the planned swearing-in soon with street protests, economic boycott among other strategies to be used in compiling Uhuru’s government to dialogue.
