Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi’s security detail has been withdrawn. The reasons for the withdrawal of his security officers, however, remains unclear. The four security officers attached to Kingi were withdrawn on Wednesday while he was at his office in Kilifi Town. The Governor had two personal guards with two others guarding his home.Confirming the withdrawal of the officers, Kilifi Director of Communications Mapenzi Chivila said the county government is not aware of the reasons that led to the move. She said the security officers received an order to leave.“I want to confirm that four security officers have been withdrawn from the Governor,” said Mapenzi.“It happened earlier today while they were on duty, but we are yet to get the reasons behind their withdrawal,” she added. The new development comes days after National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga was sworn in as the people’s president. Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi’s firearms have also been withdrawn.
