The governor says that the state of health in the county is wanting as a result of the industrial action.

Speaking to journalists after conducting an impromptu visit at the Garissa Referral hospital on Wednesday, Korane said that he is ready to negotiate with striking workers as they wait for the issues surrounding their Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) to be resolved.

“I am appealing to striking nurses to listen to the cries of the people and resume work as negotiations and talks into their CBA continue,” he said as quoted by the Daily Nation.

Korane said that healthcare is crucial for the country to achieve its development goals.

The Jubilee governor at the same time lamented over poor state of the Garissa referral hospital and other health centers in the county.

He said that most of the equipment being used in hospital is in poor condition. The Jubilee governor pledged to revolutionize healthcare in his 100 days in office.

Korane who was accompanied by his deputy governor Abdi Dagane assured residents that he will deliver on the pre-election pledged he made during the campaigns.
