A group of leaders in Isiolo county on Thursday toured the site of a proposed dam at Crocodile jaws on River Ewaso Ng'iro.
The National Water Conservation and Pipeline corporation took county governor Mohamed Kuti, MPs and MCAs to the area and informed them of the benefits of the dam.
Speaking at the site, Kuti said the dam project once complete will help locals with water during drought seasons.
He said his administration is in full support of the project and urged MPs and county MCAs to back the project saying it will be of benefit in the region and to other neighboring counties.
However, locals downstream have opposed the project citing that it is meant to displace them during floods seasons.
