Nandi governor Dr Cleophas Lagat has asked the County Public Service Board (CPSB) to word towards ensuring all staff working as casuals and on contract are employed on permanent and pensionable terms before he hands over power to his successor.

Lagat lost the Jubilee party primaries to senator Stephen Sang who is almost assured of being the second Nandi governor.

Speaking in Kapsabet town on Sunday, Lagat said the CPSB should liaise with other county authorities and see to it that all the staff currently working in his administration are absorbed and duly recognized as county staff.

"Those staff just like those on permanent basis have played a critical role insuring devolution takes off in Nandi county and it would be unfair if they are not formally employed," noted Dr Lagat.

Calls by the outgoing governor comes at a time there has been fears that the next administration might sack some of the staff he employed.

There has also been reports that the County Secretary Francis Angwea Ominde recently unprocedurally laid of 1,200 staff among the 850 ECD teachers, 200 nurses, some Directors and their Deputies as well as other staff at the governor's Protocol and Communication office.
