Kisii deputy Governor, Joash Maangi, has challenged all public and state corporation officers mentioned in the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) confidential annual report to step aside.
The report was handed over to parliament by President Uhuru Kenyatta during his address to the nation, and he directed individuals to step aside until their names have been cleared by relevant authorities.
Speaking at official launch of Mount Kenya University's (MKU's) Kisii campus in Kisii County, Maangi told the implicated officers to heed to the President's directive, to save the Government’s image in fight against high level corruption among its officers.
"I am commending President Uhuru Kenyatta for taking a bold move to direct all state and public officers implicated in the EACC confidential Annual Report to step aside awaiting clearance of their names by relevant authorities and agencies," said Maangi
The deputy Governor asked Kenyans to support the President’s move since the dragon of corruption was a challenge to the country’s achievements in socio-economic sphere.
Maangi further challenged the administration of MKU to consider rolling out tailor-made courses and programmes meant to transform the socio-economic standards of the local communities.
