Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama officially opened the start of road constructions yesterday.
He did this using the newly bought bulldozers and other road construction machines that cost the county government of Nyamira an amount totaling to Sh105 million.
Speaking when he officially launched the machines at Nyamira Primary School, Governor John Nyagarama said that the machines will help them build and repair more roads in the county to help the residents that have for long been suffering for long having to use bad roads.
The Governor also called on the officers that will be in charge of the machines to handle them with care and ensure they are well maintained.
“We are under obligation to make sure these machines are properly used as my government runs a rapid open roads initiative and in any event that you see a machine being misused, report to us and immediate action shall be taken,” said the governor.
Nyamira County Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo said that the county government was and would continue working with the contractors despite them having bought the machines.
Others present during the launch was County Roads Minister Kepha Osoro, Chief Officer for Roads Richard Okeyo, Roads Committee chairman Benson Sironga and the Nyamira Township Member of County Assembly Robert Ongwano.
