Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui has joined other leaders in the country in mourning Nyeri governor Dr. Wahome Gakuru who succumbed to injuries after a tragic road accident along Kenol-Thika road Tuesday morning.

Addressing media in his office on Tuesday morning accompanied by his deputy Dr. Erick Korir, Kinyanjui said the late governor Gakuru had great plans for the people of Nyeri.

“On my behalf and on behalf of the people of Nakuru I want to condole with the people of Nyeri county and Kenya at large. At personal level I have had time to hold talks with the deceased regarding development in agriculture and his sudden death is a shock and as people of Nakuru we mourn with the people of Nyeri during this dark moment,” he said.

At the same time, Kinyanjui took the opportunity to call on all Kenyans to exercise caution considering the high number of people who perish in road accidents.

Other Nakuru leaders who have sent their condolence message include Nakuru county assembly Speaker Joel Maina Kairo.

Gakuru was being driven by his driver Samuel Kinyanjui Wanyaga, 39, and was headed to Nairobi to attend a morning show in one of the media houses.

He was accompanied by his personal assistant Albert Kaguru and bodyguard coprol Ahmed Abdi.
