Governor meets Mandera Butcher-Men association
Mandera Governor Ali Roba met the Mandera Butcher-Men association to address urgent concerns raised by the association.
The County Boss paid an impromptu visit to the slaughterhouse at 5 am in the morning.
The visit was as a result of the February last County Integrated Development Plan exercise.
He received a report on the poor state of the slaughterhouse raised by the butchers.
The Governor promised to upgrade the facility.I assure you that from July this year, the county’s livestock department will move to upgrade the facility.
"We have set aside Ks.50 million this financial year for upgrading the facility,” Stated the Governor.
He said that the County government will put up a modern slaughterhouse of international standard.
“We will put up a modern slaughterhouse o an international standard by constructing a modern slaughtering slab, upgrading the parking lot with cabro bricks, constructing an ultra-modern biodegradable digester, sinking a borehole for sufficient water production for cleaning and also demarcating the area through proper fencing,” He further said.
He noted that they will do proper cleaning and clearing of bushes and leveling of the field for security purposes.
“Our vision for the livestock investment opportunity is to upgrade the slaughterhouse to meet high hygienic and global standards of meat exportation,” He said.
He further noted that once the facility is completed a biogas production unit will be created to tap into alternative energy production.
