Uasin Gishu government has banned the use of Chinese coin-slot gambling machines.

Governor Jackson Mandago said the business is illegal and are the cause of increased insecurity in the county.

"I am directing both national and county government security personnel to arrest and charge all those involved in this illegal businesses since it has been turned into a thieves den and has caused youth to be idle since they spend most of their time gambling," he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.

"I won't allow this country to be a gambling county and we won't license them since they are illegal. We will carry out regular patrols to ensure those with such business don’t operate in this county. They should just look for alternative business if they want to survive,” he added.

The gambling machines work in a way that when coins are dropped in certain slots, they allow the player to press the buttons randomly. If one wins, coins move randomly from the outlet.
