Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has said he's committed to revamping the ECDE sector for pupils to have a conducive environment for learning.

He said before he took over in 2013, pupils in ECDE studied in dilapidated classrooms and parents bore the heavy burden of paying wages to ECDE teachers which is now not the case.

"We deliberately embarked on a targeted program to give a facelift to the classrooms and remuneration for the teachers for our children to get quality education being taught by qualified staff," he said.

"We have employed 1,000 ECDE teachers with a monthly salary of Sh10, 000 up from the previous 2,000 per month and increased enrolment in ECDE schools from 29,047 in 2013 to 35,162 in 2017,” he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.

“My administration has also constructed 584 ECDE in all the 30 wards. No class will be made of mad under my watch. We have now started equipping them," added Governor Mandago,” he added.
