Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has put parents who have allowed their kids to roam in the streets of Eldoret town as urchins on notice.
Addressing the press Thursday, the governor urged parents living in the town to be responsible for their children, failure to which his office will take legal measures against them.
''Parents must be responsible for their children. From now on, any person who will be found to have let their child turn an into street kid will be subjected to the law,'' he said.
The county boss added that his government is determined to clear the town's streets, saying that all street kids found will be arrested and taken to rescue centers.
This, he said, will help in identifying their careless parents.
''I want to tell parents whose kids are on the streets that we will take them to child rescue centers and they will have to pick them from there. We will then press charges on them for being irresponsible,'' he said.
