Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has issued a stern warning to individuals and gangs vandalizing street lights in the county.

Mandago who condemned the recent vandalism of street lights in Langas said that vandals will face the full force of the law once arrested.

Speaking on Wednesday in Eldoret town, the governor said the county government has spent millions of shillings to install the lights which would enable traders to conduct their business without fear of being attacked.

Governor Mandago said street lights have been fundamental in enhancing security in the county as crime rate has been reduced by 80 percent.

“Individuals involved in vandalizing street lights will face the full force of the law without fear or favour for them to be a lesson to others. I cannot allow someone to destroy street lights on which we spent millions of shillings to install.”

“I have received information that security lights in Langas have been destroyed by unknown people. I urge residents to report such individuals and stern action against them will be taken,” said Mandago.

The governor further said that the county will install street lights in estates and slums in Munyaka, Huruma, Mwanzo, Shauri Yako, Langas and Kisumu Ndogo.
