A section of youthful Members of County Assembly (MCAs) from Nakuru County have called on the county Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to fire non performing County Executives.
The MCAs who at the height of Nakuru town CBD hawkers eviction last month launched a campaign to collect signatures to remove Governor Kinuthai Mbugua from office now claim that some CeCs are not performing their duties.
Led by nominated MCA Margaret Kiiru, the MCAs said that most of the County Executives have not been taking their work seriously adding that one can hardly find them in their office as most of the time they hop from one vehicle to another accompanying the governor to various functions.
Kiiro also noted that despite Governor Mbugua promising to spearhead youth agenda during his campaign period, he had failed to do so as most of his Ministers do not have interest of the youth at heart.
“The recent eviction of hawkers from the CBD in Nakuru town was conducted without proper consultations and even areas in which the hawkers were relocated to are now overcrowded and are likely to cause challenges in case of fire out breaks or flooding,’’ said Kiiro
The MCA observed that although the governor attributed achievement of little development in the county to a huge wage bill inherited from former national government workers, the county public service board was also to blame as it had hired many new workers.
She said that it was high time Governor Mbugua carried out a job evaluation exercise for his Minister to ensure that they deliver as expected.
