Governor Kinuthia Mbugua is in North Carolina, USA on a trade and investment mission.
The governor will attend several meetings with potential investors and partners with a view to establishing a working relationship between the host and Nakuru County, officials said.
Mbugua’s meetings will serve as an introductory dialogue between the state of North Carolina and Nakuru County and will focus on trade and educational investment opportunities, including establishing a sister-state partnership.
During the one-week visit, the governor will attend a series of meetings with the state’s Governor Pat McCrory and top ranking officials from the Department of Commerce, State Capital, and North Carolina Central University where the delegation is scheduled for a roundtable discussion.
The governor’s itinerary includes a visit to the North Carolina A&T State University and an appearance at the International Association of African Non-Governmental Organization Social Accountability Summit on 7th and 8th August in Washington DC. At the summit, Mbugua will also meet Kenyans whom he will sensitise on potential partnerships and investments opportunities.
During the visit, the delegation will also get a chance to visit various sites including local industries and technology firms.
The governor’s delegation includes Nakuru's first lady Lucia Mbugua, county assembly speaker Susan Kihika, finance and planning executive Francis Mathea, Lands executive Rachel Maina, county secretary Joseph Motari, trade and industrialization chief officer Edith Kimani, Viwandani ward MCA Eunice “Mama Soko” Wambui and county economic advisor David Muthoga.
