Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has asked residents in the county to be vigilant and work with the police to promote security.

In statement sent to the media on Friday, Mbugua said that security in the county has been enhanced adding that police have been directed to intensify patrols across the county with the aim of dealing with criminals.

“I would like to appeal to residents of Nakuru to remain vigilant and support police efforts to maintain law and order,” read part of the statement.

Mbugua said that they will not take chances but tighten security in the county after the Garissa University College attack Thursday morning.

The Governor condemned the attack and asked the government to crack down on the instigators and perpetrators of the attack.

Mbugua said that the country should not give up the fight against terrorism and called on the international community to offer their support.

He said that Kenya will remain united and will not fall to propaganda and the negative agenda being plotted by the terrorists.

County Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto, while addressing the press in Nakuru town on Thursday also condemned the incident and asked law enforcers to beef up security.

He said that security must be guaranteed adding that the government must use every resource to deal with criminals and terrorists.

He however, urged Kenyans to support the government and avoid speculations that will give the enemy confidence to carry out their vice.
