Nakuru County governor Kinuthia Mbugua has appealed to local and international tourists to visit the country assuring them of security.
Speaking yesterday in Nakuru in a meeting with 57 tourists from Europe who have toured the county, Kinuthia assured them that Kenya is safe for tourists and terrorist’s threats should not hinder them from exploring the beauty of the country.
“Kenya, and the world at large, is not cowed by terrorists’ threats. We cannot lock ourselves and give in to their threats refraining from touring this beautiful country. Kenya is safe and every tourist, local or international should feel secure,” Kinuthia asserted.
Withholding tourism and admitting to the terrorists’ threat, he added, would equate to giving in to the terrorists demands, which he said calls for concerted efforts to fight.
He also emphasized on the need for Kenyans to embrace domestic tourism in order to stir up peace and national wealth. In his statement, Kinuthia thanked the tourists for choosing to tour the county which is a precursor for a boost in tourism.
“I want to thank you for choosing Kenya as your tourism destination and welcome you to Nakuru County. We not only tour places for leisure but also for to touch on the lives of people wherever we tour,” he concluded.
