Disgruntled supporters of Governor Mbugua have protested the move and even threatened to vote for Chama Cha Mashinani candidate Dr Peter Koros.

The reactions come as political pundits say the move will not only benefit Jubilee candidate Lee Kinyanjui but also other candidates.

“The move now means the [votes meant for] Mr Mbugua are up for grabs. Any candidate can get hold of the votes depending on strategy,” said Mr James Araka, a political analyst

Governor Mbugua was on Saturday prevailed upon by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto and bowed out of the race and support Mr Kinyanjui.
