Kajiado East residents on Wednesday held a meeting with Governor Joseph Ole Lenku and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers over the human-wildlife conflict in the area.

The angry residents of Imbuko-Isara ward have vowed not to rest until the perennial conflicts are solved.

Governor Lenku while addressing the locals urged the Maa community to protect their animals.

Lenku expressed disappointment with how KWS was handling the whole issue while the locals incur losses without compensation.

County commissioner David Kipkemei asked KWS officers to immediately embark on driving the elephants away from private lands.

He warned that stern action will be taken against the service if such conflicts are witnessed again.

He also asked the deployment of 20 KWS officers to be in the area in order to help settle the matter.
