Taita Taveta governor John Mruttu has alleged that there is a plot by ODM Party to rig him out during the party's primaries slated for April 18.
“I hope by today evening my grievances will be addressed. There is no need to proceed with this exercise because of doubts over [its] fairness,” he said.
Speaking on Monday in Voi, Mruttu said he had no confidence in the process, further calling for the postponement of the exercise until his grievances are addressed.
“I have information that my opponent has also printed his ballot papers. My worry is that all these allegations are not being addressed by the party’s relevant authorities,” he said.
“We have no faith in this electoral board. How can officers from one camp oversee the election? Let the party hear our issues. If we accept the process to go on, we will have already lost the vote,” he added.
Mruttu is facing stiff competition from Wundanyi MP Thomas Mwadeghu, who is seeking to unseat him on an ODM ticket.
