Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has asked leaders who have been preaching tribalism in the country to repent.
“I want to be the first one to ask for forgiveness on behalf of all leaders who preach tribalism and hate instead of love,” Mutua said.
Mutua while speaking during the opening of Chrisco Church in Vota on Sunday said that leaders should be preaching unity and shunning tribalism.
President Uhuru Kenyatta who presided over the event said the country respects all religions and that Kenya is a welcoming nation to all communities.
Uhuru added that despite the problems Kenya is facing today, it is a nation that was blessed with great people.
“Despite our problems, one thing God gave us was a great people,” Uhuru added.
The Chrisco Church has been constructed by CMC Motors Kenya Executive Director Peter Muthoka, who said the church will also be a platform to sponsor needy children in Machakos County to get education.
