Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said the biggest challenge facing Kenyans is not the individual leaders but the politics of poverty that the poor leadership capitalises on.
Speaking at Uganda Martyrs Busia Catholic Church Parish, Mutua condemned divisive politics and called on leaders to embrace unity.
Mutua was attending a fundraising to construct a new church building at the parish where he was hosted by Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and welcomed by thousands of catholic faithful.
Governor Mutua said his development philosophy of Maendeleo Chap Chap was keen to fight poverty in a speedy manner in order to improve people’s wellbeing.
“We have allowed politics of poverty to dominate our social fabric and that has kept us despite all the efforts that we put in as a people,” Mutua said.
He thanked the people of Busia for peaceful coexistence saying he is encouraged by the manner Luhyas and Tesos have continued to live harmoniously over the years.
