Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has challenged his main rival for the county's top seat Wavinya Ndeti to brace herself for a bruising political battle during the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking in Matungulu sub-county on Wednesday, Mutua cautioned locals against electing Ndeti, observing that the former Kathiani lawmaker has no agenda for the people of Machakos.

He further drummed up support for his reelection bid, defending his administration's track record for the last four and half years.

“She quit her party to join Wiper in a bid to fight me. She has no agenda for the people of Machakos,” Mutua warned.

He will be seeking to recapture the seat on his Maendeleo Chap Chap Party ticket, after ditching Wiper Party.

Mutua has also cast his eyes on the presidency, after hinting last month that he will be gunning for the country's top job during the 2022 general elections.
