Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader and Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has welcomed Kilemi Mwiria's defection to the party from Jubilee.
Speaking on Thursday when he formally received Mwiria to the party, Mutua praised him as "a straightforward, honest, brilliant and an action person", exuding confidence that he will deliver the Meru gubernatorial seat.
"Today we are pleased to welcome the next governor of the great county of Meru, Dr. Kilemi Mwiria, to Maendeleo Chap Chap," Mutua said.
"We have no doubt that Dr. Kilemi Mwiria will change the face of Meru and contribute to the development of our country," he added.
Mwiria, who is eyeing the Meru governorship seat after vying unsuccessfully during the 2013 general election dumped Jubilee Party earlier this week, citing plot to rig him out during the party primaries.
He is set to face the incumbent governor Peter Munya, Senator Kiraitu Murungi among other aspirants. He is currently serving as President Uhuru Kenyatta's adviser on matters education.
