As much as of late Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has been on the receiving end,let us give credit where it is due. For the past few months, the governor has faced unprecedented political wrath from his opponents. The unsuccessful impeachment attempts cannot go unmentioned.
Then,he probably bit more than he could chew when he alleged that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka benefited from corrupt land deals in Mavoko. Several Ukambani politicians came for his neck and told him to retract his statement and apologize.Even before the land scandal dust could settle, his name was officially stroke off Wiper party's register.
But the news that,on Monday,he fired 3 officers who were soliciting bribe from a developer in Utawala-Mavoko, should be given the credit that it deserves.Corruption is our number one "killer" and by slaying it,Mutua has set a good example that others should follow.I am particularly amazed that he could take such a bold step.Kudos Mutua and Keep it up.
