Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has been told to accord Members of County Assembly (MCAs) the respect they deserve.
Speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony in Mitaboni, Machakos County on Friday, Mitaboni MCA Fredrick Mbuva said it is disrespectful for Mutua to say that the MCAs think locally in terms of development.
"Mutua said he thinks internationally in terms of development and us the MCAs think locally, so disrespectful yet all we want is our people to get development," Mbuva said.
He said Mutua didn't consult the assembly before embarking on the Sh50 roofing project.
Mbuva said the governor breached the law by launching projects that had not been passed by the assembly.
He said Mutua had refused to sign the supplementary budget that was passed by MCAs two weeks ago.
"Since we had stipulated how every shilling will be used in the supplementary budget, he refused to sign it saying he knows what the residents need," Mbuva said.
Mbuva said the MCAs know their wards well and the residents' needs, the reason they allocated the funds in the supplementary budget to different various projects which need immediate intervention.
"Our roads were destroyed by rain, our people need clean water, our hospitals need medicine. What's best for Machakos people if not these," Mbuva said.
He asked the governor to halt his presidential campaigns and instead concentrate on delivering to the people of Machakos.
