Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua is reported to have fired a Kithiani hospital medic for failing to stop a theatre operation to attend to him.

The medic, a dentist, is said to have been attending to a patient when Mutua arrived at the hospital.

The governor is said to have been angered by the dentist, who failed to stop attending to the patient to assist him.

According to the Star, the medic was suspended and given a 7-day ultimatum to apologise to the Machakos boss.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union has since criticised Mutua for alleged harassment. 

KMPDU CEO Ouma Oluga said on Monday that the Union has received complaints from five members.
