Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV’s JKL Show on Sunday, Mutua said it was commendable for the two leaders to make u-turns following the long electioneering period that saw President Uhuru’s win nullified by the Supreme Court.

“I am happy that the handshake happened. We need to ask what heritage we will leave behind for our children,"  Mutua said.

He also reminded President Uhuru that there are good people in his government, maintaining that the fight against corruption must continue.

“The President needs to know that he has people who do not steal, who are ready to work with him," Mutua said.

President Uhuru and Raila have since agreed to forget their political differences to take the country to the next level.

"My brother Raila, I have done a lot of things to you. Kindly, I apologize and please forgive me," Uhuru said during the National Prayers Day at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi recently.

Raila reiterated Uhuru’s remarks saying he no longer has a problem with him despite losing the presidential seat on August 8, 2017 polls.

The two leaders have since met on different occasions where they have maintained calls for unity.
