Mutua says that he does not harbor any political grudge against Kalonzo or any other leader.

Speaking during a fundraiser at Starshine secondary school in Makindu, Makueni county on Saturday, Mutua said he is keen on working with all leaders ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader added that his differences with people considered as his political nemeses are not personal.

“As Kenyans and leaders we must reach out to each other the same way president Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga have done,” he said as quoted by a local daily.

Mutua said unity and peace are what matters, adding that politicians must put their differences aside for the sake of development.

The Machakos governor at the same time asked Kenyans to support President Uhuru Kenyatta as he unites the country.

Mutua fell out with Kalonzo just after the 2013 general election after being elected governor on Wiper party ticket.

The two leaders have since not been seeing eye to eye with Kalonzo accusing Mutua of betraying his trust.

Mutua later dumped Kalonzo’s Wiper and formed his own Maendeleo Chap Chap party in the run-up to the 2017 general election.

He won re-election on his new party ticket and has declared an interest in the presidency in 2022.

Pressure has been mounting on Kalonzo and Mutua to reconcile and work together ahead of the 2022 general election.
