Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has handed over details of his bank accounts and properties to the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) for a lifestyle audit.
Mutua also invited the anti-graft commission to do lifestyle audits on his relatives.
He said no honest leader should be afraid of a lifestyle audit in the fight against corruption stating that public money has to be protected.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) party boss urged his fellow governors and other leaders to also subject themselves and their relatives to lifestyle audits without fear to rescue Kenya.
Mutua's surprise move came a day after he called for an audit of all leaders in his anti-corruption crusade.
He called for a lifestyle audit of public officers in order to determine their suitability to lead the people.
Mutua said he will not relent in the war against corruption.
The governor's August 8, 2017 election was last Friday nullified by the Court of Appeal.
This was after his victory was challenged in court by former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti.
