Governor Alfred Mutua has joined the list of politicians who have declared interest to vie for the presidential seat in the 2022 general elections.

Mutua on Friday during a Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement Party delegate’s conference at KICC in Nairobi hinted that he will be on the ballot paper in the 2022 general elections.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement leader indicated that the Movement will not field a presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2017 elections but will do so in 2022 general elections.

“Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement Party will not be fielding a presidential candidate in next year’s elections but come 2022 it will have a presidential flag bearer,” said Governor Mutua.

The Machakos county boss stated that Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement has been registered as a political party through a gazette notice.

He said that the party will file candidates in other political positions in the coming polls.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap leader asked aspirants who would want to be given tickets for 2017 to register.

He assured aspirants, who will register for tickets of fair nominations,

Mutua said that the Movement agitates for speedy development across the counties,

He stated that the party will be popularized across the country as it gears up for the 2017 elections.

Already several politicians have declared interest for the 2022 presidential seat.

Labour Party of Kenya (LPK) chairman Ababu Namwamba who is also the Budalangi MP announced his 2022 presidential bid two weeks ago.

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has also declared interest in the 2022 elections.

Deputy president William Ruto will also be on the ballot in 2022 banking on the support of Mt Kenya region.

The 2022 debate is already causing trouble in Jubilee Party with claims from some quarters that Mt Kenya region is grooming former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth for 2022.

However, a section of Mt Kenya politicians has refuted the claims saying that the region will fully back Deputy President William Ruto come 2022.
