Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has declared that all land issues grabbed in the county was being dealt with by both Ethics and Anti Corruption commission (EACC) and National Land Commission (NLC).
Speaking to the Senate Public Accounts and Investment Committee (PAIC) on Monday afternoon, Mutua said that there was land grabbed by private developers in the county.
According to Mutua, the EACC and NLC had been approached by the Machakos County government to help residents get back land grabbed by private developers.
"We have done letters to EACC and NLC to have them help us recover land grabbed by certain private developers in Machakos County. Some of the private developers are politicians and we are consulting with both EACC and NLC to help us get the land back and title deeds issued to the rightful owners of the land. In fact, the next time such a meeting is held, the name of the land grabbers will be provided," said Mutua.
However, Mutua said that no legal action had been taken to pursue land issues in Machakos County.
According to Mutua, it was the role of NLC to deal with such cases and he was optimistic that all the grabbed land will be returned to the people once EACC and NLC take a course of action.
PAIC chair Senator Anyang' Nyong'o called on Mutua to ensure that the next time the committee meets with him, he should provide names of land grabbers and vital land documents in the county to allow for the pursuit of the grabbed land.
