Mutua on Monday at a press conference in Machakos said it is unfortunate that some musicians were out to divide Kenyans when the country needs unity more than ever before.

"Members of the Kamba community have for long lived in harmony, we will not allow a few elements to come and ruin this good relationship," Mutua said.

John Gichiri Njau was on Monday arraigned in court and charged with three counts of ethnic contempt.

He denied the charges and was released on a Sh700,000 bail.

The hearing of the case was set for April 19, 2018.

Njau's colleague who sang the song with him is still at large and police have launched a manhunt on him.

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) said police were pursuing Gichiri’s co-accused and he will also be arraigned and charged in court once he is arrested.

The song sang in Kikuyu was allegedly produced to dispute the decision by the Kitui County Government's ban on charcoal burning in the county.

Mutua said musicians should take the lead in preaching peace and cohesion among Kenyans.
