"Today marks a new dawn for Machakos County, after I in the company of my Deputy Governor Eng. Francis Maliti and Lillian launched our 2017-2022 Manifesto, dubbed "Propelling Machakos from the Third World to the First World". Ours is a practical blueprint of the present and the future.
The last four and half years have seen us build more tarmac roads than any other county-that will continue. We have earmarked several roads in each sub-county for construction. Among them are Devki-Kinanie-Joska; Joska-Ndovoini-Muthwani; Kithyoko-Thatha-Kaewa; Kangundo-Mwala; Seveni-Muthetheni-Miu; Wamunyu-Yathui-Kibauni; Mitaboni-Ngoleni-Ithaeni; Kalumoni-Kitulu-Mikuini just to mention but a few.I will in the coming months focus a lot more on creation of employment opportunities for our youth as well as wealth creation. I commit to ensure we have 250,000 new jobs by 2020Our vision is to have the best infrastructure in the region. This is not limited to good road network rather we are positioning ourselves to compete with the developed world. As such, we plan to build an ultra modern Machakos International Airport. This project will provide about 40,000 direct jobs. This manifesto aims at making life easier for our people, both socially and economically. Our duty is to empower all members of our society regardless of their age or gender. Starting this September, we shall be paying 1005 of our student's college fees, increase our bursary fund from Ksh80m to Ksh.200m and build 40 Youth Polytechnics and Technical Skill Training Schools. We are setting aside Ksh40m for interest free table banking for our women and a further Ksh.100m for religious organizations to take care of the needy. To spur economic growth in the county, plans are in advanced stages to establish a bank - Machakos Bank to provide easy and affordable loans to our people.Health is a critical component of economic growth. My government will upgrade ten hospitals to Level 4 with matching equipment, staff and drugs. We will also provide free healthcare for all children below the age of 6 years and persons above 65 years in all public hospitals. Our agenda is one of Transformation.
Inawezekana na Itawezekana."
