Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has warned those serving his government against corruption and laxity at work.
Mutua said employees of the Machakos County Government should focus on service delivery and serve as good examples to the public.
He spoke during a meeting with the workers at the People's Park in Machakos town on Tuesday.
The governor said ghost workers' names will be removed from his government's pay roll.
Mutua said lazy senior servants will not be tolerated and must deliver in their departments.
"They should offer servant leadership and shun being bossy," Mutua said.
He assured the workers that their welfare will be looked at.
Mutua said the employees' allowances and promotions will be on top of his agenda to motivate staff.
Deputy Governor Francis Maliti, County Secretary Francis Mwaka , county ministers, chief officers and directors were also present.
Maliti said the audit exercise was noble and will identify the number of employees.
Mutua urged the workers to support his government to enable him deliver his pledges.
He reiterated his plan to run for the presidency in 2022 elections .
"I am hopeful that I will be in statehouse come 2022. I urge you to support my bid," Mutua said.
