With the 2022 presidential race on course, potential presidential candidates are busy lobbying and seeking alliances to ensure they clinch the top seat in the republic come the next polls.
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has been frank enough to name the top politician he is currently holding talks with to work together for the 2022 presidential race.
Speaking in Kabarnet, Baringo county, during the homecoming ceremony for Baringo Central MP Joshua Kandie on Saturday, Governor Mutua stated, "You know am not a coward. When a child finishes form four, he joins the university. As I finish my tenure as Machakos Governor, I want to make it known that in 2022 I will also throw myself in the presidential ballot and wrestle it out with others. We are in discussions with Gideon Moi and can confidently say 'mbele Iko sawa'."
A political alliance between Governor Alfred Mutua and Baringo senator Gideon Moi will be a strong challenge in the 2022 presidential race as they command a huge following from Eastern Kenya and Rift Valley respectively.
His 2022 presidential bid received the first endorsement from Rift Valley from Berut Member of Parliament Japheth Mutai who in Kandie's homecoming ceremony declared, "It is too early and difficult to predict the outcome in 2022 but Mutua is fit and capable."
