Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for reaching out to the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in efforts to unite the country.
Mutua said Uhuru and Raila did a commendable thing by agreeing to put aside their political differences for the sake of uniting Kenyans.
Speaking in Yatta town on Saturday, the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader said Uhuru and Raila's Friday meeting has relieved the country that was suffering from unending political anxiety.
Mutua said the country will now move forward and achieve her development agenda.
"President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga deserve praises because what they did on Friday can be done by very few people ," the Machakos governor said.
Mutua asked President Kenyatta and the ODM leader to criss-cross the country and preach reconciliation among divided Kenyans.
He asked the Jubilee government to listen to the electoral reforms agenda Raila's camp has been demanding for.
Governor Mutua asked NASA principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi to join Uhuru and Raila in reconciling the country.
President Kenyatta met Raila on Friday where they agreed to bury their political differences and unite the country.
Uhuru, Raila's meeting continues to elicit reactions with majority of politician's lauding the meeting.
However, a section of opposition politician's are raising reservation's with some terming the meeting as an act of betrayal by Raila to his supporters and colleague's in NASA.
On Saturday, Amani National Congress (ANC) leader and NASA co-principal Musalia Mudavadi maintained that they were not privy to the Friday meeting.
Speaking to journalists in Mombasa on Saturday, Mudavadi said that they do not recognize the meeting.
The ANC Party leader described the Friday meeting as a two gentleman affair and which did not represent NASA's interests.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula have also distanced themselves from the meeting, saying they were not aware of it.
The principals will convene a NASA summit meeting on Monday to discuss the new development.
It remains unclear whether Raila Odinga will attend or not.
