Mutua said Machakos is among the four counties selected for the rollout program stating his administration is taking the advantage to extend specialized services to all.

“If we come together as a country in a spirit of assisting each other, we have the ability to make not only Machakos but Kenya at large a better place. But if we are selfish and mean to each other, then we are not heading in the right direction as Kenyans," Mutua said.

Speaking during a blood transfusion event at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County on Thursday, Mutua also urged Kenyans to develop the culture of helping one another irrespective of where they come from.

"We should develop a tradition of helping one another irrespective of the tribe, social status, religion, age, gender, race and even political affiliations,” Mutua added.

Recent reports from Moi Referral and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga hospitals showed that poverty is the main reason many children and women are dying of cancer since the disease control and treatment is very expensive with the National Assembly calling for cancer to be declared a national disaster.
