Machakos governor and Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader Alfred Mutua has said candidates eyeing the party's ticket must take an oath to uphold integrity.
Speaking on Wednesday, Mutua said his party is keen to field candidates who with integrity and respect for the rule of law.
"I was in government for 10 years and saw MPs demand bribes from ministers to shoot down certain motions or support others," he noted.
"My party intends to reform the country’s political leadership by weeding out such practices," he added.
The governor is set to defend his seat on a Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket after ditching Wiper Party.
Since its formation, Maendeleo Chap Chap has had significant traction in Lower Eastern region and parts of Mt. Kenya region.
Some of the political heavyweights seeking elective seats on the party's ticket include Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti who is eyeing the county's governorship seat and Igembe Central parliamentary hopeful Gitobu Imanyara.
